Description:
Trees or shrubs, dioecious, spuriously polygamous; bark light brown, dark grey or blue-grey; young branches tomentellous. Leaves paripinnate, petiolate; leaflets 3-7-jugate, entire. Inflorescence an axillary racemoid or paniculate thyrse, often borne in axils of fallen leaves. Flowers yellow. Sepals 5, free nearly to base. Petals 0. Disc lobed. Stamens 8-13; filaments glabrous; staminodes present in female flowers. Ovary 3-locular; locules 1-ovulate; style short, stigma 3-lobed; pistillode present in male flowers. Fruit a 1-locular (by abortion), slightly asymmetrically ellipsoid capsule, indehiscent or tardily and irregularly splitting from base. Seed completely surrounded by an arillode.
